HOME IS A FEELING
The Life and Times of John and Ada Abbott
Well, the writing of this story was certainly not planned. I was actually working on researching another subject, when I learnt about John and Ada Abbott. John was the owner of Abbott's Confectionery store in Fremantle. He sold the store to Edward and Alice Culley in 1927. We now know it today as Culley's Tea Rooms in High Street, Fremantle.
There are many reasons why I do enjoy listening to stories of the past and finding out more about the unknown, but to be specific with story, it gave me the opportunity to get intimate with John and tell his story. The one thing that is undeniable about history is how it shapes us today. Dwight Eisenhower put it perfectly when he said "history is not a burden of the past, but a light that illuminates the present."
If you enjoy discovering local history, this book is for you.
